VINTAGE
An above-average wet spring and cooler than average summer temperatures led to a later start to picking than normal. This combined with a long and mild ripening period meant that our fruit developed to a beautiful level of maturity on the vine. This has led to outstanding flavours and perfumed, expressive wines.

WINEMAKING
The Shiraz and Viognier were harvested at night from our estate vineyard and a Northern Barossa vineyard. It was then co-fermented in 4 tonne open top fermenters for a period of 7 days. During this fermentation period, the wine was pumped over by hand twice daily to extract flavour and colour. Once fermentation was complete, the wine was pressed off into a combination of new (33%) and old (67%) French oak barrels and matured for 18 months. The wine has had minimal filtration and fining prior to bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Inky red with vibrant purple hues. Aromas of red currant, cumin and clove build a complex nose. The palate is driven by mulberry and spiced fruit cake notes. The elegant French oak adds support and a complex lift to the palate. A wine with mouth filling tannins and a long sophisticated finish.
